“I want to gain a trade and Plumbing seems like the right fit for me”
In Year 10, I undertook an Integrated Learning subject called VET Preparation, which introduced me to a range of trade pathways and gave me an early understanding of what to expect in a VET course. Through this program, I completed key industry certifications including my White Card, which qualifies me to enter construction sites, along with other Acclaim training modules that helped build my awareness of workplace safety and expectations.
As part of my Year 10 work experience, I spent time with Nero Plumbing Co., where I was able to observe and participate in real-life plumbing tasks. This included assisting with basic installations, observing problem-solving on job sites, and learning how to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This experience gave me a clear picture of the plumbing industry and confirmed my interest in pursuing it further.

My Post School Future
This course has given me a practical introduction to the plumbing trade and allowed me to explore whether this could be a long-term career path. I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands, solving problems, and taking on physical tasks, which naturally led me to consider a career in the trades. I also enjoy building, playing musical instruments, and collaborating with others, which has helped develop my focus, coordination, and teamwork skills.
