Co-Curricular Activities

CanDance For A Cure
Our mission in CanDance For A Cure is to make a meaningful impact in the fight against brain cancer through the universal language of dance. We foster creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, and channel that enthusiasm towards raising funds and awareness for critical brain cancer research.
Students participate in a supportive and inclusive environment where students of all ages and skill levels can come together, share their love for dance, and make a positive impact in our community. Students train every week after school from 3.15pm – 5.00pm, leading up to a large-scale performance at the Adelaide Entertainment centre alongside other dance studios and schools.

Chess
The chess club meets once a week in the Learning Hub. A number of teachers help students develop their chess skills and engage in small, school based competitions.
Playing chess enhances critical thinking, problem-solving, concentration, patience, strategic thinking, and decision-making, while fostering resilience, creativity, and sportsmanship.

Debating
Students in the middle years are able to participate in both intra and inter school competitions, led by staff in the English learning area.
Participating in debating develops critical thinking, public speaking, persuasive communication, research skills, teamwork, and the ability to construct and defend arguments while fostering confidence and respect for diverse perspectives.

Dungeon and Dragons
Dungeon and dragons is a structured yet fundamentally open-ended role-playing game that all students are welcome to participate in.
Playing Dungeons and Dragons fosters numeracy skills, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, strategic thinking, and storytelling skills while building confidence. Different dungeons and dragons clubs run after school throughout the term.

Interschool Sport
Interschool sports are available for students to participate in throughout each term and are season dependent.
Sports occur on Wednesday afternoons and are hosted by schools in the local Western area. Transportation is provided by a registered bus operator and students are accompanied by a staff member. Opportunities are also provided throughout the year for students to participate in whole day sporting carnivals. These days are advertised through our Learner Management System, SEQTA and require students to apply through a nomination process. Attendance is dependent on student achievement and work completion.

Magazine Club
The Magazine Club ‘the Astral times’, meets once a week at lunchtime in UN5.
English teachers support students to decide on articles they might like to write, provide advice on language features and layout, then help students to draft and edit articles. Students develop skills in writing with a particular focus on journalist skills. Students are able to see the outcome of their work in a seasonally published magazine which all students in the school can enjoy reading.

Mural Club and Exhibitions
Our focus on murals and exhibitions brings art to life by providing students with real-world opportunities to showcase their creativity.
Through dynamic on-site displays, we transform our school into a vibrant gallery that fosters community pride and celebrates student talent. Beyond campus, we secure public exhibition spaces, allowing students to experience the pride of presenting their work as practicing artists. These initiatives not only enhance our environment but also equip students with invaluable skills, confidence, and a deeper purpose in their artistic journey.

Robotics
At Woodville High School, our Robotics program empowers students to develop essential STEM skills through hands-on learning, creativity, and innovation.
From Year 7 onwards, students engage in exciting projects that challenge them to design, build, and program robots using industry-standard technology. Through collaborative problem-solving, they gain experience in coding, engineering, and logical thinking, preparing them for future careers in science, technology, and engineering fields. With access to state-of-the-art equipment and guided by passionate educators, Woodville High School’s Robotics program fosters curiosity and a love for innovation. By integrating robotics into STEM learning, we equip students with the skills they need to thrive in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Our Robotics curriculum encourages students to think critically and experiment with real-world applications of automation and artificial intelligence. Whether competing in robotics challenges or working on classroom projects, students develop teamwork, perseverance, and analytical skills.

Yearbook Club
Our mission is to position students to become the chroniclers of our school’s journey, capturing memorable moments, documenting events, and immortalising the essence of our academic year.
Through active participation in the Yearbook Project, students will take on various roles, including photographers, journalists, and designers. They will be tasked with attending school events, capturing candid shots, conducting interviews, and gathering testimonials from fellow students and staff. In addition to documenting events, students will delve into reflective pieces, exploring the activities and achievements of each of the subject areas that have defined our school year. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to develop valuable technical skills by learning Adobe programs such as Photoshop and InDesign. Through hands-on training, they will master the art of digital design and page layout, bringing their creative visions to life.
