My Post School Future

After career conversations with my Careers Counsellor and attending the Medicine presentation at the SACE and Careers Expo, I became even more determined to pursue this pathway. These opportunities gave me a clearer understanding of the study demands, the university requirements, and the future responsibilities of working in the healthcare field.

My goal is now to complete a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences followed by a Postgraduate Doctor of Medicine. I aim to undertake a 12-month internship and a residency of 6–7 years, leading to specialisation and a long-term career as a doctor.

Bachelor of Clinical Sciences at Flinders University

The Bachelor of Clinical Sciences, Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University is a six-year double degree designed for school leavers aiming for a career in medicine. The first two years focus on foundational sciences, including biology, chemistry, and human physiology. Upon meeting progression requirements, students advance to the four-year Doctor of Medicine program, which offers early clinical exposure and hands-on training. Co-located with Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, the program provides authentic, patient-centred clinical experiences from early on in the studies. Graduates are prepared for medical registration in Australia and can pursue various medical specialties.
