Our History
Established in 1915, Woodville High School has a proud history of academic excellence, cultural diversity, and community engagement, shaping generations of resilient, lifelong learners.
Over the decades, Woodville High School has continuously evolved into a dynamic learning environment, embracing innovation while honouring its history, rich traditions and commitment to student success.
When Hindmarsh and LeFevre Peninsula Schools amalgamated to form Woodville District High School, the school adopted a blend of colours from both schools: Hindmarsh’s blue and gold, alongside LeFevre Peninsula’s black and white. This symbolic fusion represented the merging of the two school communities and set the foundation for the school’s distinct identity. In the early years, without a formal uniform, students dressed informally, often reflecting the school colors in their attire.
Adelaide Miethke, a trailblazer in education and a key figure in shaping the school’s ethos, encouraged the adoption of navy blue for girls’ clothing to promote a cohesive and professional appearance. Her vision eventually led to the introduction of structured uniform guidelines.
As the school grew, the uniform further evolved, embracing navy blue, gold, and white to represent unity, pride, and tradition. The addition of ties, blazers, and badges reinforced the school’s commitment to excellence and belonging. Today, the uniform reflects Woodville High School’s proud history and ongoing dedication to fostering a strong sense of community, ensuring every student feels part of its legacy.
The uniform is more than just attire; it is a representation of the school’s values, history and the shared journey of its students, past and present, as they strive for success together.
