“For a long time, I aspired to study medicine, but over time, my passion for music has grown and reshaped my career direction.“
I’m currently in Year 12 at Woodville High School and have a wide range of interests that I try to explore as often as possible. I’m passionate about music and enjoy listening to a diverse mix of genres, from Classical to Progressive Metal. I’ve also had a long-standing interest in sport—previously playing for my school’s basketball and football teams—and although I no longer compete, I continue to exercise regularly for enjoyment and discipline.
At school, I’m currently studying Chemistry, Psychology, English, and Music. A crucial part of my high school journey has been my involvement in the Special Interest Music Program. This program has allowed me to develop as a musician both technically and creatively, and it’s helped spark a genuine passion for musical knowledge and expression. I’ve had the opportunity to perform in some of Australia’s largest music competitions and have formed strong connections with like-minded peers through this program. Being part of the music community at Woodville has given me countless positive experiences and taught me the value of collaboration and commitment.

My Post School Future
Woodville High School—and especially the Special Interest Music Program—has been instrumental in building my confidence and helping me realise that I can pursue my goals and dreams. I feel ready to take the next steps in my education and future career, wherever they may lead.
I now plan to study Jazz Performance at the Elder Conservatorium at the University of Adelaide. Ideally, I’d like to take on a concurrent degree in Science during or after my music studies to keep other pathways open and allow for broader career options in the future. This way, I can fully invest in my passion while also preparing for different possibilities.
Jazz Performance at University of Adelaide
The Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) at the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music is a dynamic program designed to cultivate the next generation of jazz musicians. Situated in the heart of Adelaide, the Conservatorium offers students an immersive experience in both the practical and theoretical aspects of jazz.
Throughout the three-year degree, students receive individualized tuition and participate in masterclasses tailored to their chosen instrument or voice. The program emphasizes the development of practical skills in harmony, rhythm, and improvisation, encouraging students to apply these concepts daily on their instruments. Regular performances in both small and large ensemble settings are integral, fostering essential skills such as listening, responding, and critical thinking.Students also delve into the historical and cultural contexts of jazz, gaining a comprehensive understanding of its evolution and contemporary relevance. Opportunities to engage with national and international jazz artists through workshops further enrich the learning experience.
