Welcome to our Woodville
Our school motto, Reach for the Stars, outlines our purpose, connects and ignites our vision, core values, and graduate qualities. The metaphor for Reach for the Stars is a symbol for aspirations, imagination and dreams, where each child shapes their own narrative and vision for the future.
From the Principal
Woodville High School was established in 1915 and celebrates over 110 years of providing education. Since 1915, Woodville High School has transformed as a school and is committed to a unified vision: A human·centred learning community that nurtures belonging, transformative growth and success for every learner.
We are a community that celebrates success in all its forms and offers opportunities for all to experience the joy of personal achievement- a community who is aspirational as they reach for the stars, who are willing to take risks, to try new things and imagine a future even greater than it’s past. Woven into the fabric of the western suburbs, Our Woodville is an active and proud member of the City of Charles Sturt and enjoys a vibrant old scholar community. We aspire for all our students to be the very best they can be and to embrace their innate gifts so that they can thrive within their communities and as global citizens.
Our Woodville is multi-ethnic, multi-faith and multicultural and this is one of our greatest strengths and defines and unites who we are as a school. Woodville takes pride in this with many students coming from over 91 different cultures. As such our responsibility as a school is to ensure young people through all areas of the curriculum appreciate different perspectives and world views, interact successfully and respectfully with others, and take responsible action to build a more just, peaceful, inclusive and environmentally sustainable world.
Our School Motto, Reach for the Stars, outlines our purpose, connects and ignites our vision, core values, and graduate qualities. The metaphor for Reach for the Stars is a symbol for aspirations, imagination and dreams, where each child shapes their own narrative and vision for the future. As a school, we aspire for young people to intensely shine their inner light upon the world by mobilising their gifts, values, knowledge and capabilities to create a better future for all. We want as a school to create a universe where each student’s interests, capabilities and aspirations are valued and nurtured to maximise achievement and growth for every learner through agency, human connectedness, and belonging.
Woodville High School is one of four Special Interest Music Centres in South Australia. This Special Interest Music Centre is a lighthouse of music education and is recognised locally, nationally, and internationally as a centre of excellence. The program develops the gifts and talents of young people to a high level of academic and personal success and provides unique opportunities for students to thrive.
Our Basketball and Football (Soccer) Academies are designed to support students’ educational and employment pathways. The integration of these academies within the school’s curriculum exemplifies Woodville High School’s commitment to authentic deep learning. Through these programs, students acquire skills, capabilities, and values that extend beyond sports, fostering leadership, confidence, and personal growth.
