We are excited to officially announce our partnership with the Adelaide 36ers Basketball Academy as one of four exclusive schools alongside Rostrevor College, Sacred Heart College and Pulteney Grammar (not pictured).
Picture
This is an amazing opportunity for all our students by connecting with the academy, students not only have the opportunity to be part of an extended group, but also have access to everything that Adelaide 36ers offers. Continued success on the court, led by our Basketball Specialist and Junior State Head Coach, Mr Ryan Vivian has seen our basketball teams promoted to higher levels in the School Sport SA Statewide competitions each year. The connection between education and industry facilitates authentic learning experiences and student opportunities. This combination enables our students to acquire the skills, capabilities and values to support future educational and employment pathways. The Woodville High School Basketball Academy has been established to provide students with the opportunity to improve individual and team-based basketball skills, tactics, and strategy, while also promoting leadership and confidence to challenge themselves in a nurturing environment.

The Woodville High School Specialist Basketball Academy complements the HPE curriculum. Students will have access to both the content created by the specialist Woodville High School teachers and resources and knowledge provided by the Adelaide 36ers’ Academy. The Adelaide 36ers’ Academy program allows students access to professional coaching opportunities as well as access to leadership speaking events, gameday experiences and coaching workshops. The partnership also includes Adelaide 36ers player visits, school clinics and work experience opportunities for Specialist Basketball students.

INTRODUCTION

PROBATION & STANDARDS OF THE ACADEMY

Here at Woodville High School, we hold our Basketball Academy students to high standards of results and performances across all subject areas ensuring that all of our student-athletes meet appropriate expectations.

These are measured across 3 key areas:
Academic
Behaviour
Practical

Academic: student-athletes need to demonstrate a positive attitude in all subjects, punctuality to all lessons (given extreme circumstance), satisfactory work ethic and to meet and complete all work by the given deadline.
Behaviour: student-athletes need to demonstrate respect to all staff, peers and school property, as well as display selfless behaviours. Students must make every attempt to follow basic school rules and expectations, including positive role modelling and upholding the school values to a high standard. Our students are to not be receiving any of the following: referrals, internal and/or external suspensions nor have to be questioned by the teacher.
Practical: student-athletes need to demonstrate above satisfactory ability for performance and improvements on and off the court. Students must meet the expectations for attendance to all lessons and in being on time, participation in all practical activities at the standard expected, 100% compliance of staff, leadership in setting the standards (and in positive role modelling) and show a positive attitude, as well as willingness to improve.
